Many celebrities rose to celebrate with film-makers Lasun Ray and Kunle Afolayan on Saturday, when they premiered The Bridge, a film that fuses romance with tribal politics.

Currently running in cinemas across the country, the movie that stars pop singer, Chidinma Ekile, was unveiled at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, with the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, leading other dignitaries.

Also at the event were a former Minister of Youth Development, Mrs. Funke Adedoyin; Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde; actor and Special Assistant on Arts, Culture and Tourism to the Kwara State Governor, Femi Adebayo; CEO of Terra Kulture, Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, Founder of Africa International Film Festival, Chioma Ude and other popular stakeholders such as Gbenga Adeyinka, Tade Ogidan, Hilda Dokubo, Yemi Shodimu, Kunle Bakare and Bryan Okwara.

The synopsis of the movie written by Shola Dada, produced by Lasun Ray and directed by Kunle Afolayan, indicates that it “explores the undaunted desire of two love birds to change the primordial, and sometimes egoistic mind-sets, that hinder unity across tribes, tradition and class. The Bridge makes a bold statement with Yoruba and Igbo cultures, showcasing the people’s exquisite attires, enchanting music and language power.”

It is powered by the Bank of Industry’s Nollyfund loan scheme and features Demola Adedoyin (Obadare), Kunle Afolayan, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Zack Orji, Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami, Lere Paimo, Wole Olowomojuore, Lanre Hassan and Jimoh Aliu.

The culture minister commended the producer for telling a story that, he noted, was capable of strengthening the unity of the country.
