2 Policemen, 16 Others Nabbed Over Kidnapping


The Kogi State Police Command has paraded two serving policemen, a naval personnel and 15 other suspects arrested for alleged offences of kidnapping, armed robbery and culpable homicide.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Janga, who paraded the suspects yesterday in Lokoja, said they were arrested at various locations during intensive operations launched by his men.

The CP gave the names of the arrested policemen as Corporal Suleman Isiaka and Corporal Ibrahim James and the naval personnel as one Ordinary Seaman Habila Bature.

One of the arrested policemen, Suleman Isiaka, said he was on a special operation to the Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Bauchi prior to the crime, and that one Shehu Agba from Egume in Dekina local government area of the state had contacted him to come down to carry out a kidnapping operation at Anyigba.

He said he was forced into the said crime by the hardship he was facing, saying that he lost all his belongings to an inferno that razed his apartment some time ago.

He said that he also discussed with the two other suspects Seaman Habila Bature and Corporal Ibrahim James who joined him for the operations.
