Some leaders of the APC from Ogun State besieged the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to protest alleged attempt to substitute their names on the delegates’ list by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The leader of the aggrieved party members, Kunle Adesina, who is APC Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman, said they had to visit the party headquarters to intimate the National Working Committee (NWC) on the looming feud.
Adesina said the APC Constitution was clear on the choice of elected and statutory delegates to the forthcoming mini convention.
He alleged that Governor Amosun had started exercising his powers arbitrarily.
“A number of us were shut out at the congress; a whole senatorial chairman like me got to know about the congress in less than 24 hours. The governor wants to ensure that only people who are loyal to him get the ticket to become delegates.
“We are perceived to be more with Chief Olusegun Osoba because we asked questions which the governor did not want. We are members of the party. As members of the party, there is no place for any emperor,” he said.
The group had earlier submitted a letter titled ‘Open Letter to APC National Chairman, NWC On Crisis, Impunity and Imposition in Ogun State Chapter: Demand for Cancellation of Congresses.”
