The Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, in a Completesports report said that the team will travel from their training camp in Kano to Lagos by air then proceed to Cotonou by road.

The first leg qualifier between Benin Republic and the home-based Super Eagles is billed for Sunday, August 13, while the return leg comes up a week later in Kano as the winners over two legs will qualify for the 2018 CHAN in Kenya.
