The Ekiti State House of Assembly, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdullahi Chafe, to arrest those allegedly fingered in the destruction farmlands valued at over N10 million by suspected herdsmen,
The Assembly said the state government won’t fold its arms and allow those he described as ‘destructive agents’ to destroy the wealth of the state through indiscriminate grazing that causes wanton destruction of valuable crops.
The Speaker, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, said this in Ado Ekiti, yesterday while playing host to the new Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Otu Ita Okonkon.
He said the farmers had exposed the identities of those perpetrating the nefarious acts and that the state expects the police to be swift enough to bring the suspects to justice.
Oluwawole directed the state command to clampdown on those destroying farmlands around Ipao-Oke Ako Ekiti axis, where the action has become more prevalent.
