Akinwunmi Ambode To Set Up Marine Respond Squad


The Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode has concluded a plan to set up Marine Respond Squad,As high rate of suicide increase by some Lagos residents especially in the lagoon.

The squad would monitor, rescue and manage any impending crisis in the lagoon.

This became a necessity even as the state also raised an alarm over the increasing rate of emergency calls in the state, saying that the state had received 80,000 emergency calls through the state emergency and command and control room located in Alausa.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting with emergency responders and residents held at the Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry Building, Alausa, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Seye Oladejo said there was the need for the stakeholders to have an effective collaboration among Rapid Respond Squad,RRS, State Health Environmental Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, Lagos State Waterways Agency, LASWA, FRSC, LASTMA and other necessary units.
