The Nigeria Customs Service, Eastern Marine Command, Port Harcourt and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have agreed to work together to boost their operations.
This synergy followed a courtesy call by the new Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammed Haruna, on the Comptroller, Eastern Marine Command, Usman Kankara Bello. During the courtesy call, the two bodies emphasized the need for information sharing, especially in the riverine areas of the state with a view to checkmating the activities of smugglers, pirates and pipeline vandals.
Bello welcomed Haruna to Rivers State and congratulated him on his new appointment. He also used the opportunity to commiserate with him over the death of NSCDC officers who were killed by criminals in the riverine area of the state and advised the officers not to be deterred by the incident but to continue to discharge their duties effectively.
