PDP Stakeholders Pass Confidence Vote In Makarfi

Stake-holders of Akwa Ibom State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have passed a vote of confidence in the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee, which was set up by the National Convention of the party in Port Harcourt on May 21, 2016.

The decision of the stakeholders which is contained in a communiqué at the end of an enlarged caucus meeting held, yesterday, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, came after exhaustive deliberations on issues touching and concerning the national and state leadership of the party.

The stakeholders also resolved to support the unanimous decision of the meeting the joint organs of the party took in Abuja on February 20, 2017, to appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt recognising the insignificant factions of the party led by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to the Supreme Court.

They resolved to align with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the joint organs of the party directing all the states, local governments and ward chapters of the party to hold regular consultative and all-inclusive sensitization meetings.

They also passed a vote of confidence in Governor Udom Emmanuel for a job well done, as well as in representatives of the state in both the national and state Assemblies for their effective representation, patriotism and sense of unity and oneness demonstrated through their acts and conducts.

The stakeholders equally congratulated the state Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo, on his emergence as the Chairman of the Forum of all PDP State Chairmen in the country and wished him God’s grace in his leadership role.

In attendance at the caucus meeting were Governor Emmanuel, deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Felicia Bassey, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Bassey Akpan, Iboro Ekanem, Dr Henry Archibong, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, among many others.
