Ex-international Emmanuel Amuneke has applauded the Nigeria Football Federation for organizing grade ‘A’ international friendly matches for the Super Eagles to strengthen the team ahead of their August 28 World Cup qualifying clash against African champions, Cameroon.

The encounter which has been slated for the Hive Stadium in London on March 23 and 27 respectively, will also serve as dress rehearsals for the team before their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Uyo.

“More of this grade ‘A’ international friendly matches should be organised for the Super Eagles so that the team can be strong against any team in Africa,” he said.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal and the Stallions of Burkina Faso featured at the 2017 AFCON tournament which was won by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and they have always been difficult opponents for the Super Eagles.

However, Amuneke, who was an integral part of the team that won the 1994 Nations Cup and the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, pointed out that Burkina Faso and Senegal will serve as true tests for the senior national team.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has really done well by putting together such grade ‘A’ friendly matches that will help the team. Burkina Faso and Senegal are two of Africa’s strongest teams and I strongly believe they will give the Super Eagles a tough time,” Amuneke said.
