Fareeda, the two-year-old daughter of a slain broadcaster, who was abducted by gunmen in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, has been released.
Sources said that the abductors released the little girl and a friend of her mother on Monday evening at Ikorodu.
The abductees were released after the husband of the deceased broadcaster parted with an undisclosed amount as ransom.
Sources reported that the two-year-old girl has been reunited with her father and other family members.
It was also gathered that the abductors took Fareeda and her mother’s friend to a deserted area and fare was handed over to the pregnant woman.
NAN also gathered that the kidnappers got in touch with the father, who later gave them some money as ransom.
“The girl’s father was instructed to go and wait for them at a particular place but the gunmen dropped the girl and the woman at another place.
“The suspected kidnappers gave the woman some money for transportation to take the little girl home,” a source said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the release of the little girl and her mother’s friend.
Badmos said, “Yes I can confirm that they have been released, but I don’t have any information on when they were released.”
