Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte broke a new record on Saturday when he became the first manager to win 14 of his first 17 Premier League matches.

The Chelsea boss has won more of his first 17 matches than any other manager in Premier League history but insists there is still a long way to go this season. Eleven wins in a row – Chelsea are the Christmas No.1 and look simply unstoppable.

The Italian guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace and broke the record previously held by former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, who won 13 of his first 17 matches in charge of the Blues in 2009.

In fact, Conte and Ancelotti are just two of seven Chelsea managers to have held this record at some stage during the Premier League era. Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Avram Grant all won 12 of their first 17 league fixtures in charge of the club, while Luiz Felipe Scolari and Andre Villas-Boas won 11 and 10 respectively.

Diego Costa’s 50th Chelsea goal – and 13th of the season – helped Chelsea to their 11th straight victory at Selhurst Park, equalling a club record. “The run is fantastic,” Conte told the media after the game. “Congratulations to my players, not me. “I am pleased with this level we have reached and with work we can improve. “It is important to understand we are only at the 17th game in the season. There are two games before the half way.

“We are working very well and are in a good position. We must not look at the table and continue. We must not look at our rivals and continue work hard ourselves.”
