Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has reportedly sacked about 662 teachers in Oyo state today, despite the government owing the teachers seven month salary.
According to an insider source from the state who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that, “the government still owes us about seven month salary, and in the midst of that went on to dismiss some teachers off their jobs.”
The source further disclosed that Governor Ajimobi went on to the extent of threatening the remaining teachers not to feel comfortable, as more sack would be coming up before the end of year 2016 and the beginning of year 2017.
The governor was quoted saying that only teachers that scales through the sack process that will run through February next year (2017), would count themselves lucky as genuine workers of the state.
This statement credited to governor depicted that there are more process of sack to be embarked upon by the state government.
Meanwhile, teachers in Oyo state are reported to be be living in fear as no one knows who the hammer of sack would hit next.
Recall that Governor Ajimobi and teachers in the state have been at loggerheads of recent due to non-payment of salaries and the private partners involvement in the state education.
